Default Z Speaker Questions

I'm looking to upgrade from the normal stock speakers(not the bose). I'm at work and can't check out the owners manuel.

Can anyone let me know what size the side and rear speakers are? Also, if anyone can recommend any good speakers for around $70-$100 per speaker, i'd appreciate it.

best to spend some cash on an equalizer if you want any speakers to sound good.

I believe all 4 speakers are 6.5"

Also, if you are willing to stretch that to maybe $120 tops, you could get into some nice Boston Acoustics.

Get a head unit too!!!

I replaced all of my speakers, even put an amp with them... still sounded like crap. I finally broke down and got a new head unit, sounds awesome now.

I don't think the speakers are going to help all that much; you probably need to get a new HU as well.

The Bose sound is really bad. The factory radio in a Tahoe is way better.

I replaced the front speakers with CDT cl 61's

great sounding speakers, audiophiles give them great reviews.

you can find them for $150 set,(speaker, tweeter and crossover set)

speakers

then replace the back speakers for rear fill. I used a cheaper cdt speaker about $79.

The tweeters in the stock system are painfull to listen to, I unhooked mine the first day.

You need to goto a local z meet and listen to the difference in an aftermarket system.

If you guys are recommending a new head unit, I might use my xmas money for that then. I could probally find a good deal in the week between xmas and new years.

Looks like i've got some research to do. Thanks guys

A new headunit is easily the first and single most effective way to upgrade your sound system if you were to start from scratch. Just upgrade your head unit first and you may be satisfied with how it sounds on stock speakers! You'd be surprised! All speakers are 6.5". Check out the Audio forum on this site, lots of good stuff in there. Since you're only willing to spend around $100 per pair (you said per speaker, but I'm assuming you meant per pair) I would go to Crutchfield *only* to check out what's out there - don't buy from them! True they have good customer service and they're a good company, but they sell at retail prices! You can find "wholesale" prices by buying online at sites like sounddomain.com or onlinecarstereo.com. I would also recommend comparing prices at www.pricegrabber.com. Check out the Audio forum here and let me know if you have any other questions, I'd be happy to help!

headunit makes such a big difference. the stockers arent that bad but horribly underpowered by the stock headunit. get a nice headunit to start. i bet you would be surprised how good the stock Clairions sound with a little help. if your still not satisified get yourself a new set of components for the front. you can do alot of research off crutchfield and then find the same hardware off ebay for almost half the price. if you do go for new components, don't forget to get a clean amp for it. dont skimp on the amp!
