Default Cable Recommendation

I just bought most of my carpc items and am now on the last piece - the cables. I would like some pretty quality cables but non-extreme price. The PC will be in the passenger glove box and I need cable run to the HU. I'm thinking I need about 15-20 feet so I'm leaning towards 20ft of cable to be safe.

Right now I'm planning on using the onboard ac97 audio controller - so I will need a mini stereo to dual RCA to plug into my Alpine HU. If the sound quality is really poor, I'll look into an external Audigy or some other option, but for now, I wanna test the onboard sound. Any cable recommendations? I'm looking at http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mXSLGca...p?i=119RPCHP20

Also, I bought the Fahrenheit LCD and so will be using a straight RCA video cable from the pc to the LCD. I'm thinking about http://www.crutchfield.com/S-mXSLGca...ch=video+cable

Thanks for the input!

I'd take a tape measure out and re-measure the lenght of your cables. I would think 10 feet is more than enough. The longer the cables the more likely you are to pick up stray noises.

I went with a short mini-jack to RCA cable of about three feet to get to my brain which is under the passenger's seat. I think it was $3 from musician's friend. Works well.

The cable from my cubby mounted Farenheit to my brain was like five feet and that was too long so I had to coil it up. I used an old free VCR cable and just peeled off the yellow wire. Works fine.

Where I screwed up and still have problems is with the MonsterCable RCA cables that I used to run from my headend to my amplifier rack. I should have dug through my box of wires to find some POS wires but instead I bought some MonsterCable ones which were pretty cheap I thought ... but apparently not cheap enough as I suffer alternator whine.

I've only been putzing around trying to solve it as there's been plenty of other things to do around the house but I think I need to ground the amplifier's metal chassis as I've tried all the more complex things.

This doesn't make sense to me? Wouldn't a higher quality cable have less problems with weird interferences?
