anyone use the autolock?
anyone use the autolock pro on their Z? if you dont know what the autolock is its this... http://www.autolock.com/Unbreakable_Auto_BL.htm
for the manual tranny people, you can put it on your clutch pedal so they cant even start the car, they can only put it in neutral and push. but they wont get far. my friend who got caught for stealing cars says its damn near impossible to steal cars with that on, and the thief needs at least 15 mins to cut the damn thing off. i think its a good investment and im getting one this week at autozone (only 40 bucks). if anyone has it let me know their experiences with them

I use it. its good I guess, thats to say I haven't had my car stolen with it on. mostly I think it adds another visual deterent to thieves, and it lets me sleep better. however I usually only use it when I'm going to be parked someplace for a while. its kinda bulky and you need to be careful when moving it around your car as I scrapped up the interior of my previous car pretty easily with that thing. and I hate to say it, but I hope you find better friends than the one who got caught stealing cars. car thieves are scum IMO.

I am not sure about this one, but I watched a report on 60 minutes where a car thief showed how to defeat this mechanism. You take some of that canned air for cleaning computer keyboards, turn it upside down and spray it into the lock. Turns out that stuff is like freon. Instantly freezes the lock to the point of being brittle. Then they hit it with a hammer. Boom - its off.

by real pros? Nothing wrong with using something that will at least slowdown a car thief or at least deter one. And by the same token the pros have also said they would rather bypass a car with a alarm, lock etc.. then one without.

When you put a lock on something all you do is keep the honest people out. My first choice would be to keep them from starting the car at all rather than getting it going and not be able to stop it.

I recently had a 2004 Honda Civic come in with one of those on his clutch. The car was stolen and stripped. Total loss. If a thief wants it bad enough he'll get it.

i own one
I forgot which auto lock I own but it is silver and it said that it is freon resistent. But the day I did not put it on, my maxima got stolen during mid afternoon; while shopping at bestbuy. So, I always put the thing on now. Don't get lazy and forget to put the thing on or your ride will get jacked.

Nice looking, highly visible, but I'd bet good money that there are brass tumblers in that lock, making it easy to defeat. If I can't pick it in 10 seconds or less, the old compressed gas trick will work wonders to them. Overall, 30 seconds or less, and that thing is history.
