let me know, i am pretty sure i have figured out how to do a full under the floor set up, with a spare in place and a pretty powerful sub...the spare will be easily removed by simply lifting (no removing of any stereo items), and when concealed, there will be the appearence of NOTHING in the trunk
just a heads up...i want to prove to a freind of mine as well as myself that this can be done cleanly, and i will give a good deal to any forum members ahha
thanks!

its hard for me to describe, but i will try my best:
1. imagine when you open up the trunk, there is nothing, just a normal floor with stock mat in place, no sign of audio anywhere. the floor may be raised a tiny bit, say an inch of so, nothing noticable.
2. when you pull the stock carpet off, you notice the new floor is factory matching vinyl with pop off panels.
3. pop one or two of hte panels off, and you see flush mounted amps, there could be some different theme to this, such as in a well that is back lit by leds, etc...
4. pop a bigger panel off, it reveals a spare. now for cosmetic purposes, it could be nice to buy one of those cheap but clean looking 5 spoke rims and a super cheapo tire (100 bucks really) intead of having the stock spare.
either way, this spare will be flush mounted, with the spoke side on top, and if yuo look with in the rim of hte spare, you see that the sub is in an enclosure that rises up to fit in the middle of the spare tire rim. the spokes of hte spare rim will be sorta of a grille for the sub. depending on the size of a rim, anyhting from a 10 to a 12 wil fit (and yes there will be enough air space the way i want to do it). a nice touch also can be some led integrated into the sub enclsoure so when on, the inside of hte spare tire glows.
thats about hte best i can do to describe what it would be like.
the advantage would be that when needed, all you have to do to get the spare out is to pull straight up out of the floor, when you are done, simply clean it off and put it back in. the spare stays and there is no intrusion into the trunk space, so you dont loose cargo room and dont give away that there is anyhting in the trunk.
the best of both worlds...

I have not taken formal measurements but the spare is fairly narrow, I would guess 6 or 7 inches and the hub and center of the spare are shaped in such a way that they take up a lot of room. If the stock spare were to be retained, a better option might be to have it upside down and make a FG form to fit in the center of it although your air volume would be quite low and you would need to lift the trunk floor to accommodate any real sub because of how shallow it is.
The other option might be to use a wide aftermarket rim but even still, upside down or right side up, and there will still be a hub in the center to cause you grief with depth issues. Maybe a 9.5 rim with a +30 offset would give you enough room but at what cost. You would still loose trunk space.
I think there is alway more than one way to skin a cat but I think there are better options for doing this without chewing up trunk space or at least making the most of what is available.
Running a box in the stock location or a small side trunk box can keep things stealthy and still give decent results and leave the trunk with all of it's "useful" space.
Bubble did not post his behind the seat enclosure, it looks great and left his trunk open to do what he wanted with it.
I have a small side enclosure that takes up very little space in the trunk and left my stock sub location for amps and other gear while I retained an undisturbed glove box.

I fit two Rockford 300 Amps (1 2 channel, 1 Mono) inside the cavity behind the stock sub location in my ZR on a custom rack. It left enought room for me to bond a fiberglass Shell over the back Stock Subwoofer Plate to have a fullly sealed .75cubic ft box for my 10. I use the factory grill cover too. Completely Stealth and I take up NO trunk space at all.

thanks for all the tips
well, i am going to do a jetta next week possibly going with this theme, i will post some pics
i totlaly agree there are more ways to do a fully stealthy set up in a Z, and i by no means are asying this is the easiest.
but to me, it will allow me to have a combination of:
1. stock appearance in the trunk with no room taken up
2. unique factory
3. ability to also show off the components when needed
4. have te option to keep the bose sub location in tact
so we will see
alex i know what you mean, i have someting similar i was gonna do in my old car that i never got around to lol that was 5 years ago
