Default best ipod connection for non-Bose factory HU

So i have an '06 Z and want to keep the factory (Non-Bose) headunit, but would like to run my ipod. What's my best bet for getting something to hook it up? Has anyone found anything that really works well?

This makes me sad. I guess I'll have to wait until someone comes out with something.

the soundgate aux-niss works w/ 03-05 non bose heads. I haven't seen the back of the 06 head, but if you pull it out of your dash and have an extra 12 pin plug available, then it would probably work. I have mine on my 03 and love it. It just gives you an aux. set of rca inputs that makes then head unit think it's an external cd changer.

so before I order...can the sound quality be considered great? Are all ipod functions done through the ipod itself?

Also, what do you think about this: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=701

yes....it's a direct input to the head. the quality is as good as it can be. the control is done on the ipod. the aux-niss only gives you an rca input....no method to control the ipod though.

I'm not sure what you're linking to...I can't get discountcarstereo to come up. What is it?

i think it's pretty much the same thing as the aux-niss deal you are talking about...this unit charges the ipod, can be controlled through either the ipod itself, or limited function through the factory head unit. Also, this unit is said to work with 06 Nissans (350's included). Now my only problem is figuring out how to get the ipod and adapter hooked up to the back of the headunit with a clean stealthy install.

I was thinking of a way to have the ipod in the cubby hole spot where the navigation screen usually goes, but I'm not sure if that will be feasable or not.

b/c the aux-niss takes advantage of a port on the back of certain head units which is actually for an external cd changer than Nissan did not take advantage of. The head units that are sat. ready do not have this input. If you have a sat. ready head, you want the PAC Audio AAI-NIS. This will convert your sat. input on the back of the head to TWO sets of rca inputs.

Ok so I have a 2003 touring model with the factory Nav and Bose stereo. My questions is if I buy the soundgate aux-niss can I still use my in dash 6 disc changer? And I'm sure there is plenty people out there that have done this, so how are you mounting your I-pods?

yes...you can still use the 6 disc. It acts as a 2nd cd changer. Doesn't mess up your in dash at all.

well, my unit should be here any day...I would like to find a way to have the ipod in the cubby hole, right above the headunit, but I'm not sure where to place the conveter box thingy. I guess I'll just have to pull out the headunit and see what's going on back there. I'll post pictures and a review after I'm finished. As far as I know, no one has the "USAspec PA11 Nissan/Infinity Aux inpou + ipod interface" But it says it will work, so we shall see.

Mr. Drifter
Did you ever order your i pod adapter? If so how much did you pay, where did you get it from, how hard was the install, and does it still work with the limited factory headunit controls?

I'm installing my PA11-NIS (iPod interface & Aux input) this weekend. From the instructions, you can have five (or four if you enable the Aux input) playlists that will act like "big CDs" that you can control from the car stereo. The last "CD" is all the tracks on your iPod.

Mine is a 2005, someone else has installed it on their 2006.
