I actually used my Nav today!!!!
I decided to take a "shortcut" coming home from work and ended up getting behind about half a mile of traffic instead. Seems someone had a fender bender up in front. I wasn't really familiar with the area so I punched up the "Get me to my house button" and it kept wanting to put me back on the freeway. Instead I just followed the map of streets in the subdivision I was right next to I wasn't familiar with the area but it took me straight to a light that bypassed all that traffic. Saved me at least half an hour. So if an hour of my time was worth $4,000 it just paid for itself. It's not but it was nice to get home in time to see The Simpsons.

I use my nav all the time. I love how it gets me around areas I wasn't used to in the past. Roads I didn't even know connected are now in my path!

Does the Nav in the Z have a voice that tells you when to turn and fill you in on when the turns/exits are coming up? (i.e. pleasant female voice: "gradual right turn in point 3 miles" then when you are supposed to turn you hear a "ding")
I was in Philly this past weekend and the Hertz rental I used had a GPS Nav system in it that was really cool. It did all that and on the little map it showed all the bridges, overpasses, even rivers and any other water (in blue) Fairmont park (in green) and even Railroad tracks! It was dead on too. At the exact moment I ran over the RR tracks for example, the little triangle icon on the screen (me) was crossing over them on the Nav screen. It was the coolest thing I ever saw!
Does the one in the Z do that?

At our last Z meet someone said they had heard that no one really uses the nav it just looks cool. I was trying to explain how great it is cause it tells you how far you are from your destination and how long it will take you to get there....which is nice but I seldom use it other than having it up cause it does look really cool, but today It really came in handy. I think I would use it more if I didn't have that stupid warning screen pop up every time.
In my line of work, I visit a lot of different clients. Before the Z, I used mapquest a lot. Now, with the Z, I just grab the address on the way out and plug it into the car when I get in. It is great to see how roads around unfamiliar areas connect, and it's nice to not have to ask 'how do you get there?' all the time. I had a couple places to visit down in Portland this week, and I just plugged in the addresses and it was right every time.
for 2k, this was an expensive option. but I don't regret it one bit -- it's so useful. On top of that, it's a great piece of techno show off, and the birds eye view that the Nissan system does is wicked. It blows away the nEverlost system in the Hertz cars.
Can I write a more ringing endorsement of this? My wife wants one in her Jeep so bad now...
