Default Is the Bose unit and the reg. stock unit a direct swap

I have the reg stock unit and wanted to swap it out for the Bose unit for the 6-disk changer and was wondering if it was just a direct swap or does it need more work?

I think the bose is configured with the stock speaker amps... dont think it will work with the stock set up. If your asking if it needs more work and are willing to make it work... then why dont you switch out with after market? The bose is going to cost ya. Get a nice, not so high $$ Alpine and a changer for the money and run it off your stock speakers if you dont want to invest alot. I would not do it unless you dont care about the $$ and want to keep the stock look.

Default Bose w/ Sirius

I did by following Frankmusic's diagram below & added Sirius.

No, they are not directly interchangable. Among many other conflicts, the Bose unit uses multiple external amps that the base head does not use.

Along those lines.....
The bose head unit must have pre outs...
How many amps? would you get a clearer crisp sound if you just switched amps.

No, it doesn't have preouts. Just b/c there's external amps doesn't mean there must be pre-outs in the form of RCA's. The impedence of the Bose system is odd too. I don't know of anyone who has just switched out the amps. It's not worth the work it would entail b/c the bose speakers are crap anyway.
