depends on your budget...

currently, i love to recommend DLS, not onyl cause i carry it, but simply becuase they sound wonderful...

smooth, not harsh, good midbass and just overall very appealing sound.

there are other good brands of course

What’s your budget, amplifier wattage, music and listening preferences ... at least give a wild-*** shot at getting it right.

Seriously you need to listen to the speakers with your music, at your volumes, with your ears. Otherwise you might as well ask us what kind of girl you should marry. I like petite brunets others might like tall blondes...

Darn that means I can't go carousing at Paul350Z's pub!

How about these price targets:
<$250 Infinity Kappa 60.7
<$400 Image Dynamics CXS62
<$700 Focal 6.5" Utopia

Be sure to match speaker quality with the rest of the system. Otherwise you will be kicking your wallet. Infinity's sound great until you hear awesomely clear Focals, then you notice Infinty's tweeter actually buzz. Ignorance was bliss...and much cheaper.

i personally think there are much better sounding speakres than infinities at the same price range:

here would be a sample list from me at that price range

<250 JL VR, DEI studio, DLS MS6, Crystal SSX6

<400 ID CXS, DLS UP6, JL XR,

<700: Focal of course(though i am not a personal fan), Morel Ovation integra, DLS UR6s, DLS iridium, AVI BRM

16psibrick, you carry speakers? If so, you want to PM me some prices? I'm looking for both components and coaxials. I actually have a G Coupe if it makes any difference. The speakers are going to be powered by a JL 450/4 amp.. and I guess my price range is in the 400 ish (for both).

16psibrick,

Your contradiction makes me curious. I look forward to hearing your list. Please would you provide your top rank preference order and contrast differences? Granted it gets subtle climbing ranks.

my statement about focal is that i am personally not a fan of how they sound, but i do recognize that sq is a personal thing and that focals do some incredible to most people.

for me, i value strong midbass and extremely smooth and laid back mids and highs aboveall, perhaps some would clal my taste too lack luster and lacking in highs, but...again, thats my taste

here is a brief list of my favorite sepakres, and honestly, in no particular order:

AVI BSM Tri-star
DLS nobelium and iridium
More elate

and a new recent addition:
Polk SR series
