Default Need some help ???

Hey Guys,

I just got my sub, amp, and eclipse head unit installed, great job by the shop, except for the fact that the SES light came on. They tried but could do anything, so I need some help on how to get the thing turned off

Thank Taylor

Some people just ignore it and it goes away in a day or two. Other's disconnect the battery for about ten minutes.

SES light and not the CEL (Service Engine)?

ECU Resetting Procedures

Timing is extremely critical. If it is NOT DONE within the specify time, the ECU will not reset and the Check Engine Light (CEL) will continue to remain ON.
A stop watch or an analog clock with a second’s needle will be useful.

Operations Procedures

1. Confirm that accelerator pedal is fully released, turn ignition switch “ON” and wait 3 seconds.
2. Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.
2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.
3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking.
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

If the CEL light continues to remain ON, repeat the above steps. Timing is EXTREMELY critical to resetting the ECU.

Had the same problem and as Paul350Z said, went away in a couple of days. Might have something to do with unplugging harnes or playing around with emergency brake. But, it should go away.

Good question! I will have to check to see what might do at night. Better yet, when I go out today will check before I lift the garage door. That's assuming I go out. It is snowing like hell here in Albuquerque.

Sorry for the delay in replying! Must be a harness problem. ALL of mine go "green" when my lights are turned on. Also, the "touch screen" should go from day mode (bright) to night mode (dim) when the lights are turned on.

Sorry, no pic! Did they use a harness from Crutchfield, some other source or just cut/solder?

well the shop couldnt fix the problem, they told me that the unit has a postive illumination wire but the car itself has a negitive wire so they couldnt do it.

Well I need to find someone who knows how to fix this or a shop that can fix my HU

Need to find a shop! I did not have your problem (i.e. positive Vs negative). But, then again my shop used a harness from Peripheral Electronics (Bose Harness #SVHNI2). They should illuminate!

your shop did not hook it up right... either they skimped on a 5 dollar harness... or they don't know what they're doing....

it's easy to remove the unit, check the wiring through the hole and replace it if it's not the right one...

no need to remove your entire dash/console

<---- Riverside?

Ain't got a clue as I did my own installation. There are only about 50 custom shops between San Berdo, Corona, Riverside, and Mo Valley to choose from.

The hard part is finding one worth the bother, might try a tread in the Southern California forum.
