someone has to have a 15
ive searched and searched again but couldnt find any pics of a 15 installed inside of a Z. i know someone has had to try this at least once. yes i do like SPL competition and i like haveing loud bass in general, so yes i would be wanting to install a 15 once i pick up my 350Z. i was just hopeing to see some pics of someone elses setup before i start to design my own and mess with some fiberglass. my Lightning is the first vehicle that i had to settle for 2 12's and i didnt like it at all. i was running 2 memphis 16-mc1000d's to two rockford fosgate power hx2's in a custom box behind the seat in my L with boston acoustics fx8's in the doors and pillars and boston acoustics pro 50 series components in the kick panels i picked up from crutchfield. had a rockford fosgate p800s running my components. the system was pretty loud, just didnt have the deep bass of a 15 that i love. anyways if anyone has any pics maybe from a show or anything of a 15 installed in a z i would appreciate it. thanks.
wow so judgemental.... so many people on this site is sooooo ontop of what other people want to do with thier car. i mean seriously who cares if he has 15z..? i personally like 2 10z that are high end for nice clean quick response bass, and I know people that just like the sound of 15's. question. how does this affect you in anyway? or how did your post help this thread at all? seirously some of you guys need to get off your, i have better taste than you, high horse....

You can fit a 15 behind the strut bar. I just shipped off 2 15's and had them both sitting behind the strut bar. I would say you have plenty of room to do one up fire ported to the driver side.

if you would of read everything that i posted i said my 2 12's just didnt have the deep bass of a 15 that i love... and i also said yes i do like SPL competition, and im not gonna win anything playing some country music. which would answer your question on why i want a 15.
i dont like 20" chrome, i like 22's, which i was gonna put on my Lightning this spring but decided to sell my truck and go with something more fuel economic. im sure a nice pair of 19's on the Z lowered will suit me fine.

Funny... I never said you weren't white. I was implying that you have ****ty taste in music and don't give a **** for SQ with a 15" sub. I will make the assumption though that you only want a 15" because you want something people will look at and say "damn that's a big *** sub" rather than, "wow that really sounds good."
I'm not judging 'cause I care what he does to his car. Hell, put 2 15"s in it. I just get pissed off when I hear ****ty aftermarket sound systems.
Just my opinion though. That's what an open forum is for.

i like it nice a clear, throughout the neighborhood
i was thinking of putting it on a trailor and towing it behind the Z in the summer time.
i'd just put 2 infront of the strut facing the seats in a fiberglass box. the problem is not really the size but the air space you have to work with. i had 4-15" memphis m class with a memphis mojo pushing them in the extended cab or an s-10 and they freakin beat. the z wont sound as good with that same set up bc of air space. if i was u i would go for 4-12" subs and just go for the air space. if you want a lot of base you'll probably have to redo the rear strut and run a ported box. that would slam.
Al from audiomobile up in Northern CA did a 15"er in a false floor in the trunk a while ago.
Go for it.
Just for the record everyone, there is no such thing as the sound of a 15" or "fast" bass ... any well designed subwoofer can reproduce any and all frequencies with equal accuracy.
mr. muppet,
you sir are rude.

Opinion/rude/whatever, you are just plain wrong.

I disagree again. You can't say all subs nor transducers are made the same. Nor can you say that, even among similar brands, e.g. JL w7s, that the 8" is going to sound the same as a 13". The 8' is going to blend a lot better into the music whereas a 13 is going to rumble and stand out. Which in my opinion sounds bad.
Yeah you can mess with gains etc but you're never going to get the accuracy and response, and more importantly, the blending, that you can get in a smaller sub.
Not to mention, that to even get close to creating an environment suitable for a 15", you'd have to tear apart your Z to do it. Personally given the size of the Z's interior, I think anything over a 10 is gong to be too overpowering given the space.
Really, you guys are the one's being ***** about this. I'm just voicing my opinion on large subs. But nono... good comeback.
Yes, you are voicing your opinion ... and we are disagreeing with it. I have no comeback are smart retorts for you ... only a reality check on the physics behind sound reproduction.
I am telling you that a GOOD 15"er will sound the same as a good 8"er.
For example, Ravi's (GQ 350z) new 13W7 will sound nearly identical to that of the 8W7 until played at higher volumes. It wil be "fast", accurate and seamless .... just as you would expect any small sub to be. At higher levels, his sub will barely be moving, therefore operating linearly and creating little to no distortion. Simplly put(and again reiterated here), a well designed 15"er will sound just as good as a 8"er.
Just to clarify something here. We are talking about SUBwoofers here, not midbass/woofers ... I am referring to the reproduction of 150Hz to subsonic frequncies. A properly set up subwoofer will include a solid front stage capable of a minimum of 80Hz ... thefore allowing for a subwoofer to come in around there or below. If you are trying to run you subs all out at 250Hz ... well .. good luck making anything sound good.
I don't consider myself a "d!ick" for doing this ... I am just trying to educate you a little bit .. hoping you don't go spouting off at the mouth about your opinions on subs when you truly have a LOT to learn.
