Default Upgrading Factory HU

Hello Everyone,

I'm planning to upgrade my factory HU with an aftermarket one. Here are my choices:

Pioneer DVH P5000MP
Alpine CDA-9833

I've heard a lot of good things on the Alpine CDA-9833 from different members on this forum. Just want to find out if anyone has any feedbacks on the Pioneer DVH P5000MP unit. Your time and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, I'm currently running the factory HU with the followings:

Diamond Audio 6.5" HEX component speaker (front)
Diamond Audio 5.25" coaxial (rear)
Soundstream amp VGA320.4 Van Gogh Series
Soundstream amp VGA800.2 Van Gogh Series
Phoenix Gold EQ215IX
2 JL 10w3 subs
Custom sub enclosure & amp rack

Thanks,
Danny

Absolutely absolutely do NOT buy any 2005 model alpine units. They have nice features but a flaw in their circuit board. I dont know if they have fixed the problem for 06' but I highly doubt it considering they never really admitted to their being a problem originally. Just look up some thread on the screen going blank and the cd mechanism never releasing the cd. I have installed about 6 of the 2005 units for customers and they have ALL come back with the problems. Im not trying to bash Alpine, I used to love this company, but they obviously screwed something up last year, so be careful. If it were me, and I was going with something somewhat mainstream, I would go with either the Kenwood Excelon KDC-X890 or Kenwood Excelon KDC-X990

BTW, the threads Im speaking of are not on my350, try doing a google search.

cbrflyer919 -- thank you for your feedbacks and advices. I heard there will be four new decks from Pioneer released in couple of months, maybe I should wait a bit for these new HU's.

Pioneer makes some good high end units. I've used their premier line for years now and they have been great, the higher end models have a 13 band EQ for lots of tine tuning. I'm waiting for their newer models to be released as well.

I like eclipse for the clean outs, but the few I've i've had and my brother have had all gave CD read issues...

The alpine 9833 is nice HU, I have the 9835 in my car right now and love it. I hate the glide touch **** that alpine came out...

If you can find a 9833 or 9835 on ebay i would grab it up, i had a tough time finding the 9835...

Bah - the Eclipse CD read issues is on old models. They've had zero problems in the past 3 model lineups (not sure on current line up that is just coming out now).
