What's the use of having a push button start when you have to use a key anyway? Do you feel like James bond or something? It's useless.

Yep. You should be able to since it's an OEM part similar to the S2K that others have been getting.

On all other cars that are equipped with the push button starts….don’t you still have to put the key in as well?

So, do you turn the key in the ignition and than push the start button?

I too like the Lexus push button.

Its from the 2004 Lotus elise, i plan on putting a flashing green LED behind it once the key is turned to accessory. Now just have to find a mounting point I was thinking on the steering wheel but then the issue of the wheel being turned comes into play.

This is just for fun and show purposes. Whats the point of a lot of things we do to this car, its to customize and make it our own. If you question little suttle things like this then why buy a sports car and not a civic or something.

my friend has a passat, and his start button is kinda cool... if I remember correctly, u put in the key, the the key becomes the start button and u just push the key in and the car starts. kinda nifty.

I highly doubt that Lexus button would work with just a relay, the way all the rest of them would. It is off the new Lexus models...ones that unlock when the door handle is touched as long as the key fob is in vicinity. The car authenticates the fob and therefore starts when the button is pushed. It does not require key insertion.

I believe that's the reason behind the exhorbitant price and why it probably will not work for us. If someone has indeed installed one, I would be very in knowing.

The upper Infinity models have a button also but I think they also require the key fob. I got the BMW button for that reason, it can be wired in with a relay. I paid $68 for the button and two contacts for hooking up the wires. Was quoted $110 and up by various dealers, so my friend got it for me through his Infinity dealership parts department.

New G35 has a push button, maybe it'd be possible to integrate the whole keyfob system from a G35 into a Z?

I really think any momentary push button is going to work. I'll try to find it but there's sites out there where you can get 'em in any color you want. I ordered some switches a while back that are brushed aluminum that would look great. Only... I don't remember if they're momentary or not I'll have to do the old 3rd grade science experiment to see...(lightbulb switch and battery)

I think it's a complete waste of time for this mod. It's really useless if you still use the key. What i did on my Integra before was connect a switch to the starter and hide the switch somewhere in the car where I can reach it. In order for you to start the car, you would have to push the switch and at the same time turn on the key, that way, when thieves try to steal your car, most likely he wont be able to if he can't find the hidden switch. That's the only way I think a starter switch is useful for.. other than that.. it's a waste of time...
