Default just ordered my system

I ordered from a combination of crutchfield, amazon, and ebay. Based on what some of the local shops quoted me, I figure I am saving about 700-1000. I am going to use the old dash kit until the new one is available and just reinstall with the new one. I was going to go with the R-type sub, but I would have to buy another amp. I am not looking for earth shattering bass either, just something that sounds tight and clean. I am going to put 125 watts RMS to each voice coil on the sub, which are rated 150 watts RMS. The components are only 75 watts RMS, so I will need to turn the gain down signifigantly for the front channels. In the future if I decide to go with more bass I will probably bi-amp the comps and buy a mono amp for the sub. Also, I wanted to save some weight and the s-type sub only weighs 10lbs compared to the r-type which is about 25lbs. I think I will be pleased with this setup. Anything will sound better than stock!!!

Also, I was thinking about a 1/2 farad cap. Will this be needed to sustain 14.4 volts?

Crutchfield
HU- Alpine CDA-9856 - 199
Sub - Alpine sws-1042d - 120

Amazon
Amp - Alpine MRV-F545 V12 Car Amplifier - 300
Door Speakers - Alpine SPX-177R Component 2-Way 6.5 - 200

ebay
Sub box - zenclosures 1x10" understrut box - 100
misc - zenclosures door spacers - 20

with shipping around 1K total. I will be disconnecting the rear speakers.

now I just need to get some wires this weekend and prewire while I wait for this stuff to ship. I will also need to figure out how to remove the doors, since the 06 ones are a little different.

Sounds like you have a plan. I would have gone another route for the subs, but to each his own. I bought some coaxils for the rear speakers, but alot of ppl say you don't have to bother. My stuff is going in tonight, so I'll let you know if it was neccessary.

when I had my 03 I went with polk comps in the doors and coax in the rear. It didn't sound very good, even if the gain was turned down low for the rears, so that is why I am skipping them. I just got the apline sub, since everything else was alpine. If I don't like it Crutchfield has a 30 day return policy where they will even pay return shipping. I was going to pay 230 for the f345 amp and figured for another 70 I would try to run the sub and comps on 1 amp.

Yea, makes more sense that way. I would have gone with a 5 channel if I didn't already have my Memphis 1000D....so I had no choice but to buy another amp. Can't go wrong with a Phoenix Gold ZX475 though. ; )

in preperation for the amp, I decided to run power, install a cap, and try and make my own amp rack. Here are some pictures. It's not the greatest, but I am proud of myself.

here is a pic of the intake I installed last month
