I don't know much about Car Stereo, so all the threads on 'Z' stereo have been very helpful to me in deciding what to do.....can't stand to listen to this stock stereo in my Performance model anymore....sounds like a transistor radio......so next week, I am having installed by a high-end car stereo shop, the following:

Diamond Audio Speakers
Boston Acoutic 8.5LF Sub
Memphis ST2004 4x50W Amp
Memphis ST250D 250W Class D Amp


I am keeping the HU for now...see how it sounds.....Sub will be in the stock location, behind the driver.....gain control for the Sub......Dynamat in speaker areas.....not sure where they are going to locate the Amps yet....seems very expensive to me, but I am totally incapable of doing it myself and I want it done right......very limited options here in Milwaukee area.....can't wait to hear how it sounds...I will keep you posted

 

Sounds to me like you have the makings of a great setup. After you're done the only weak link in your setup will be the stock HU, everything is very good.

 

I would definitley agree with this. I did the same thing with my stereo by keeping the stock HU and adding great sounding equipment. The HU will make it not sound as good as it can. I changed out from the stock HU to and afternarket one wihtin 5 days of getting my car back from the installer...

The stock Bose/Clarion HU suxx, and it will make the nicest amps and speakers sound like doodoo. Trust me, you will probably end up changing the head out too, as it will make the nicest installs sound inferior...

I changed mine to a Pioneer Premier, and it sounds 5,000x better. The more work I do on the sound system the more I realize how bad the Bose system really stinks !

 

Sounds like I sould put in a new head unit, too....I never like to do things halfway. Thanks
