Default Help! My iPod adapter is killing me. "E-60 error"

I had a Kenwood KCA-IP500 installed a few days ago. My HU is a KDCx-579. Aside from being overly complicated the setup worked...for a day. Now, when I hook my 3rd gen iPod up to it the HU just says "READING" or "RESUMING" for about 3 minutes until finally it just comes up "E-60". So, I installed the iPod updater on my iPod, and have reset it several times. The iPod works fine on its own but not in the car. Does anybody have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Are BOTH switches on the back of IP500 in the DOWN position? That's all I could come up with.

I don't know. What is the purpose of the switches? My buddy installed it.

It shouldn't work for a day and then stop. If something was installed wrong wouldn't it never have worked right at all?

The switches' function should be listed in the owner's manual. You've already updated the iPod software or I would've suggested that. Like I said, that's all I could come up with. Call Kenwood's support line. They should be able to help.

EDIT: Guess what I just did? I did the first thing YOU should've done: Googled the term "Kenwood E-60 Error". Following was the 4th item on the list:

http://www.kenwood.de/download_bda/bda_ken_kcaip500.pdf

Its the IP500 Owner's Manual. Did you read yours? Look in the "Troubleshooting Guide". You'll find the answer.

Done all of that. What I also did thirty seconds ago was take my buddies Nano out to the car to make sure the adapter is working. And guess what. It's brilliant. Works amazingly well. So MY iPod is most likely fcked up. Just great. Thanks for looking though man
