No, actually, I goofed a little. After messing with the door connector (and remembering that i screwed it up royally on my last z) i saw a "shortcut" and a litle rectangular hole below the connector. I didn't put 2 and 2 together that this was where the kickpanel clips in to until well putting the kickpanel back on after everything was hooked up!

The kickpanel has 2 of those clips so the bottom one still clips in and the door sill trim holds it into place fine.

 

thanks for the compliments guys... as i'm tuning it the system is sounding better and better. i couldn't imagine needing more than one 10" in this car.

Yes that fire extinguisher is a good idea. some my laugh but i have a story where that would have come in very handy. driving along in my old SL listening to my stereo when what do i smell but burning. so i pull over and open my door expecting to have to go up front under the hood to find the problem. NOPE the wires had shorted to my motion sensor and i was standing in the street ripping smouldering wires out of the back of my car, under the bench behind the driver seat. crazy story, almost caught fire!

 

A local autocrosser's civic actually did catch fire in the rear from stereo wiring while in grid between runs. Mad dash with the fire extinguishers on course kept his whole car from burning up. Make sure to use a fuse!

Well, I pulled the infinity's and kickers out of my Pathfinder so I'm going off memory here but:

kickers - $500 for both
Kappa Perfects - $250 brand new on ebay
Kappa Coax's - ~$75 on ebay - new
JL 10w6v2 + box - $200 from another member on here
Misc wires and fuses and distro blocks and wood and screws and crap - $70

Total - $1250 in equipment... or so. ps - i like ebay!

I had a 90 Wrangler with a carb that had a punctured fuel line catch fire outside a bar at 4:30a while warming it up. I was able to put out most of the fire with that cheesy "kiddie" extinguisher that every wrangler keeps on the roll bar to look like a tough guy. worked like a charm!

What did you use for sound deadening?

 

none yet - figured i'd see how it sounds and deaden later. for now im pleased.

 

Looking good, simple and clean look. That how i like mine.
That the aproach i took about my car, figured id see how it sounds then deaden it. It sounds much better when it is deaden.

 

looking at my install what exactly would you deaden? i figure the doors of course, what about the hatch area?

will deadening be worth it? what specifically would improve the sound?

Well, I am starting with my doors (since my door skins are at Nazar's getting worked on) and using Raamat and ensolite. I plan on doing the trunk/hatch as well since I seem to get a lot of road noise from the rear and for the addition of a sub, I think it will help. Rick at Raamaudio suggested the cubbys/panels behind the seats since there is a lot of open space between the panels that transmit a lot of noise. Rick is very active on the Subaru sites and is a wealth of knowledge, so I will probably follow his suggestions. He can hook you up with a roll 50sq. ft of deadening, a few yards of ensolite (open cell foam) and adhesive spray for the foam for far less than just 36sq. ft of dynamat extreme.
