Default Out with the Blose, in with the good sh*t.

Some pics of my new HU (JVC KD-AVX2). I was very surprised at how good this HU is. I almost didn't buy it because I was worried about JVC's clarity and reliability. This thing blew away my previous Alpine DVA-9860. Highly recommended. More pics to follow. Completely redid the Blose system. Infinity components & coaxils, Phoenix Gold ZX475 ti, 2 Image Dynamic ID8s in a strut bar box by Zenclosures. Farenheit 7" screen where the navigation would be. She sounds much better now. lol

Oops. Forgot to mention the other amp. I have a Memphis 1000D powering the subs. Running the subs at 2 ohms. The Phoenix Gold is powering the mids and highs; running at 4 ohms. more pics coming soon.

I am soo very tempted to go with the same setup, but I to am too skeptical of JVC's reliability and whether or not the sound quality can compare to a high end Kenwood or Eclipse. Any input on that?

I have both eclipse and JVC and both are great. The 5V out is awesome. JVC are known to have all these extra features, like gig mp3 which is great. The sound quality is the same, its all in the tunning, and this head unit has ALOT of flexibility.

I have to agree with Visionboy on that. I've owned them all. Alpine, Sony, Kenwood, Pioneer, Eclipse, Clarion, Denon, and now JVC. I must say JVC is a close 2nd to Denon if not an equal when it comes to sound quality. Only time can tell reliability. This is JVC high end HU, so I would imagine it would last. Everyone that I've ever seen that had problems with JVC has bought the cheap stuff. You get what you pay for I guess. Hands down the best unit I've bought to date. I had the Alpine DVA-9860 before this one and it crapped out in less than a week. Won't buy Alpine again. Ever since they started manufacturing them in China, they have gone down hill.

i'm glad i checked out this post. i've tried to avoid JVC, and it's so hard when they have good stuff/features for very reasonable prices. now i can just go ahead and get it. p.s. i used to run a memphis 1000d to 3 12W3s, and then to a Digital Designs 9515 and i loved it, never really got too hot.

Yea, I was the same way. Anyone mentioned JVC I was like ewwwwwwwwww. Still do when I see their cheap stuff in nice cars, but this unit makes my jaw drop. If you buy it, you won't be disappointed!!! Yea, memphis makes good stuff. I had it powering 2 JL Audio 12W6v2s before. Ran it at 1100 watts @ 1 ohm. The JLs loved that amp. Now I'm running it at 600 watts @ 2 ohms....the Image Dyamics like to be over powered like the JLs I guess.....ID are rated at 150-175 watts RMS....they're getting twice that. lol
