Default Ipod in the Z

I have an 03 Touring with Factory Bose in dash 6.

I have yet to see a IPOD Mod that works 100%

I just wanted to throw this idea out to everyone. I went to Radio Shack and spent $10.00 on the only tape player with the wire, you know the one you use to use out of the car kits for the old disc-mans.

This thing is key, it would great! No distortion, and when your done I eject it and wrap it around my Ipod and throw it in the center compartment.

I just wish they made an extra output on the radio but for now this is cool.

I use the FM transmitter. It works OK with occasional cutouts. I got it because of the skips with CDs when it’s cold. The FM transmitter works alright but does not provide enough volume.

i tried the tape and it annoyed me squeaking all the time, fm transmitter is ok but too quiet. There is apparently no way to connect an ipod in any other/better way, i've looked into it a fair bit.

The Alpine 9855 is fully compatible with your iPod. You can actually shuffle thru your playlists via the HU. Plus it's hard wired so nothing but crystal clear beautiful digital sound is created. Sweet...

That new Harmon Kardon unit seems pretty spiffy. Heck, I am almost ready to buy the Clarion 765 DVD unit just because it's interface is soo soo sweet with the ipod. However, with 2volt pre-outs I will probably stick with Kenwood and deal with a subpar interface.

I got the harman kardon and its prety good. I would not say great. The Harman kardon has three options. The FM Transmitter, FM Modulator, and direct wiring to the HU. On the 03's you cannot directly wire the HK into the Head Unit. As we all know, the FM Transmitter sucks. So right now, I am using the FM Modulator. You do have to use a certain radio station but the modulator blocks out any frequency so you get no interference. Sounds way better than a plug and play transmitter. I would have gotten a new HU but I heard that Z's with nav's cannot have their head unit replaced because the nav would be disabled. But overall looks great and works very well.

PA11-NIS works great, and integrates very well into the stock radio.

I used the fm transmitter from Monster and it works awesome. really clear sound and no cutting out. I live in Philly so it's not like the sound is so clear because there are no radio stations around. It's a bit overpriced (since it is Monster) but works awesome, and charges it too.

My Kenwood HU and Kenwood iPod adapter (KCA-iP500) was $269 for everything. I had to buy a new iPod because mine took a crap on me so factor in a few more dollars But going from a 4th gen to a 60gb iPod video I can tell you with this set up the sound quality is excellent. I'd say it sounds 98% as good as a CD. Of course, the quality of your mp3 has more to do with that. I read that the A11-NIS works really well (just and aux if I'm right) but you don't have ipod control. It's about $100 from what I've seen.

My PA11-NIS treats the iPod as a six-disc changer, playing from playlists designated "NISSAN1" through "NISSAN5" (or the first five playlists) in playlist mode (CD 6 is all of the tracks on the iPod), or you can use the iPod to select a playlist in direct mode. If you enable the Aux in outlet, CD 6 is the Aux in, and you lose the fifth playlist.

You can use the next track/prev track to control the iPod, random mode on the iPod, and repeat mode on the iPod.
