Default Four channel amp question...

I have an opportunity to pick up a PPI 1000wt. 4 channel amp for relatively little, but I only need to power my front speakers with it, can I use just two channels of it and leave the other two unused until I upgrade my rears or go ghetto and bridge it for a possible sub addition? Or should I just go with the PPI 500wt. 2 channel over the JL Audio 300x2 at a higher cost?

you can use the front 2 channels of the amp to power your fronts just fine without using the rear out put..or you could bi-amp your front comps for more power..

I wish I was more familiar with bi-wiring the components, but unfortunately I have not researched that topic. I will be running Focal 165kP and would hate to blow them by doing something silly. I would assume both the driver and tweeter could handle 125watts, but would rather not gamble with expensive speakers. I will talk to my installer and see what he recommends on using all four channels or just the two.

Those speakers will take all that you can throw at them so long as it is undistorted. Do ya really need all that power to those speakers, no... but you can if you like.

Id just save those rear two channels for a sub someday. Bridging the rear two channels isnt ghedo in any way. Infact, in a Z it is really all you might want anyway. Muliple amps usually lead to multiple problems and much more $$$

That PPI 1KW.4 amp will go the distance for you!
Bridging the two rears for the sub is the perfect amount of power for a 10W6.
It would take a deafening amount of bass to overheat it and derate the fronts.
Enjoy!
