Rear-View Mirror Radar Detector Mount
#42
so i bought my v1 off craigslist, and it didnt come w/ the hardwire adapter. I'm assuming that thing and some phone cables are necessary for hardwire into fusebox. Are they just regular phone cables or crossovers? (i dont actually know if there is such a thing as a crossover phone cable... i just know that there are cross over network cables)

Best I can tell following searches here- this hasn't had new info for 11 years. Maybe i'm wrong- but I haven't found the latest opinions re:best radar options/cost. Checked-out Amazon, etc & looked like old merchandise.

There used to be a guy in this forum located in GA that could custom fabricate the arrows into your rearview mirror and it'd synch up with your chosen detector. Works perfectly with my Valentine 1.

Dang that's awesome. I do love my V1 but would like a more suble way to mount it. I'm still running a cord to the cig lighter, haven't looked too deep in to hard wiring it, is that pretty simple?

I took it to the same place that's been doing all my stereo installs since '05 and it seemed pretty simple for them to complete. He somehow etched the arrows from the Valentine 1 into the mirror so they only flash when the radar gets triggered. Otherwise, it functions like a normal rearview mirror.

The price for the mirrors is $499 for the standard red LED V1 display, 549 for the Colored Band ID LEDs.
Let me know if you are interested in one.

Hard wiring it is super easy. Just run the primary wires through the a-pillar to the fuses and use a fuse tap for an accessory that gets power with the car on.

Bumping an old thread where I was the last person to post, lol.
Any V1 faithful still out there? One of the selling points for me dropping $400 on a radar detector was the fact that they had a lifetime upgrade program where they would reflash or update your detector with new software as it became available. I went on Valentine One's website and saw they have a newer model out. They have an upgrade program where you can enter your serial number and they will not update it anymore, but they will give you a rebate towards the $500 purchase price of their newer model. I bought my V1 quite a while ago and when I entered in my serial number, I got this message:
The new units are currently on backorder until 8/7, so I'm guessing that's why they're not currently doing the upgrade program coupled with the fact that production is likely low based on C19. I plan on upgrading when (or if) I stop getting this message from V1's website. Anyone else getting the same message when they enter their serial no.?

Yep, same message for me. They offer a $110 rebate towards the new version, but you can pretty easily get $150ish selling it on ebay, so that's the route I'm planning on taking eventually - the V1 is still a great tool so I don't plan on spending the money for a while, at least until this whole end-of-the-world thing is over.

But first, I'll need to get over my fear of AI becoming self-aware and rebelling against humanity thanks to the Terminator.

Lol, yeah Radenso has several videos on YouTube about the tech and testing they have done. They don't quite have a price range yet but they say think on the higher side. The fact that if some new tech comes out you can just teach it what to look for is cool. They are also planning on doubling the industry standards on warranty and I think the OLED screen itself has a 5 year warranty.
