Ok I knwo the BOSE head units are wonky.
I'm replacing it anyways. ( that day cannot come soon enough)
Ok, while the stock one is still in there, the low range just randomly cuts out with it feels like it. Is this most likly just the HU, or shoudl I be worried about the amps too?
I'm just wondering what I'm going to do, just say F*** it and get the deck. If that solved my problems i'll be happy, but if I have to start replacing everything, I'm gonna look at the warrantee.

The sub-woofer cutting in and out is a problem I've seen here before. Check the wires the plug into the sub-woofer amplifier and the speaker itself. Both are located on that panel behind the driver's seat.

Not too easy. You have to take apart the plastic panels from top to bottom to expose the plate. The plate itself has a bunch of 10 mm bolts holding it in place. The dash board end is proabably earier to get at if you want to check that end first.
I may be wrong, but your problem is the sound autopilot. A microphone under the steering column that detects noise and adjust sound controls. And like everything else with the Bose system. It sucks.
I replaced my head unit, it still does the same thing. I performed a mod suggested by this forum on adding a resistor to the microphne plug. It changed the sound quality, but intermitantly adjusts the sound. So the mode does not work.
Next up for me is, removing the Bose Amp entriely. I asked to see if anyone had a diagram to the amp, but have not had any replies.
Thanks

i started having this problem too (after everything working perfectly for a long time). No idea why. Also I have an aftermarket headunit. Gonna have to figure this out when I get home and the car finally comes back out to play. Keep this thread updated if you find the problem!

I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I was hoping it was just the head unit though. When i bought my 03 i got 3 years bummper to bumper warrantee. I wonder if any of this is covered....
I didn;t buy a nice car like this to be unsatisfied with ANY part of it.
