Question How should i angle the sub?

Ok, well I’m starting to build my box for my d6 12inch sub... diamond audio recommends a vented box that is to large to fit under the strut bar. So I’ll have to build a new floor in the trunk to accommodate the new box.

Below is a sketch of the trunk.. Will the sub sound best at the bottom level of the trunk facing the rear way down low? (A) or straight up at the glass(not sure if it will fit here yet and if it does would it be best too have it more near the rear or more near the front)(B) or Angled slightly toward the back glass? (C)

You sub will sound nearly the same in any mounting position.

I did B ... it worked very well.

out of those, i would do A. allowing the longer sound waves of lower freqs to travel a little longer before reaching you does wonders for sound.

considering that the shortest wavelength he will see will be ~4m ..... I wouldn't worry about that
(xo'd@80hz)

Honestly ... it doesn't matter

doesnt really matter, subs are uni-directional. But you may hear a noticable difference, just because of the shape of the car from differet firing directions. Mine is like 'B' and sounds great

So as of now the poll is ‘B’ and ‘it doesn’t matter’? Is ‘b” still an option if it is within inches of the glass on the z? or does that pull it out of the category or poll I should say?

The wave lenghts of even a nice high 100 Hz signal from your subwoofer is 11.3 feet and won't fit into the car!

80 Hz = 14.124'
60 Hz = 18.3 '
40 Hz = 28.25 '
20 Hz = 56.5 '

(at 70 degrees F)

Look at the Klipsch Kornerhorns and many others that use corner loading to increase the base response. In the tiny little cavity of the trunk it's likely you'll not notice A, B, or C making a difference. The angles of the car and the long wave lenghts of the base mean that any deep base has to bounce and reflect all around the interior. This is good in one aspect in meaning that the nodal and anti-nodal points are all stirred up.

I vote for B as it will alow for a nice wide woofer and fit flush with the floor.

Alrighty so I'm going to attempt to build the box as shown in (b). But the sub is going to be very near the glass (if i follow diamond audio's specs, for the box) found here: http://www.diamondaudio.com/products...ented%2005.pdf
I do not know much about the box, but is it possible to change some dimensions and still use the same cubic/feet and have the sub sound the same or is that out of the question?
