Sub box behind seat
Need some input guys...
Ok I saw the thread a week or so ago about the guy making custom boxes for behind the seat (they were going to have a ten and cost the same as the corner trunk box). I was thinking of doing my own thing, but was wondering if anybody else has done it. I know the plastic piece behind the drivers seat comes out, but can it come out w/o the other side coming out? I want the "glove box" on the passenger side adn the two little slots to stay, but the plastic behind the drivers seat is purely wasted sine I dont have the Bose sub. Finally, is it a PITA to take out? I looked at it the other day but havent quite gotten in there and started taking out screws and snapping things out. BTW I was thinking of just geting a Q Logic 10" truck style box and slipping it in there if there was enough room. Thanks.

Your best bet would be to remove the plastic panels and see if your box will fit. Without knowing the dimensions of your box, nobody will be able to give you any quess as to wether or not the box will fit. I found this diagram a while back for a design that will fit that compartment. In a few months, I'll probably try it out for myself:

has anybody actually built and installed the box in the diagram?
there are 2 bracket posts in there that I think will get in the way... I want to know whether that is factored in or it has to be removed by a shop

Just to clarify; that is the same box in the 3D rendering in his car? I'm glad someone someone actually built it but does anyone have any designs with the sub facing in any other direction other then facing down like that.

Yeah I built a box that fires forward. I'm not posting info on it until I install it though so I know it all works well. But use your head and a ruler and you should be able to figure out a solution that'll work for your sub.
There's other non-wood options out there though. Look around and you'll see some other fiberglass forward firing one's on the site.

i built that box and it fits, i had a 10in kicker l5 from another car and i will say its not the best choice for that box... i kinda knew that going in so i wasnt too disapointed.
xstriderx I live in corona too... if you say please maybe i will make another box for you.

question guys, if you were to remove the plastic cover from behind the seat and FG a box for that area in there, how much airspace would there be? which subs would that allow you to put in? i like that box idea, but i want my sub to be exposed behind the seat facing the back of the seat.
