Default Avic Z-1 Installed. Door will not open

I installed my Avic Z1 this weekend using the Metra 99-7402 TurboKit in a 2003 Nissan 350Z. Much to my surprise the door will not open. I will have to remove the dash and possibly move the stock brackets forward on the unit to sink it deeper in the dash. Or get out my dremel and dremel the trim ring to gain the neededspace to allow the screen to open. This is my first DoubleDin Navi install so I have not encountered this previously.

1)Should I be using a different kit/trim ring?

2)Should I focus on mounting the stock brackets closer to the front of fthe unit to sink it deeper in the dash?

3)Or is it time to whip out the dremel? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Yes, the face cant swing down, it moves maybe 3-5 cm, encounters some force and then returns the the position before attempting to open the face/door.

well, if you have the headunit installed properly, and you can see exactly where its hitting, you can either trim it or modify it so the unit comes forward more

be helpful if you have a few pics

To get my Kenwood DDX-6019 to sit flush with the trim. I drilled holes approximately 3/8" behind the original factory holes on the bracket. I would test fit and measure to ensure the proper distance before you drill. Here is a picture:

I'll snap a few camera shots with the cell phone. I thought it was pretty simple to line up but a guess I was wrong.

Thanks for the picture, since your bracket and my bracket are the same (since they are stock) some additional holes drilled like you have done will sink the radio into the console slightly. Can you post one of the face, more specifically the alignment of the face around the kit.

BTW what install kit did you use?

I did have to remove the factory brackets and re-drill them about 3/8" behind the factory holes. This sunk the Avic Z1 into the dash slightly, allowing the door to swing open.
