how do i know if the remote turn on wire is working? is there a way to use a blue point multi meter to see if things are working right? and if so what should i have the multi meter dial turned to and what should the remote wire read when the key is on and what should it read when the key is of?

my power light isnt lighting on my amp for some reason, and all fuses are good and i have 12 volts going to the amp but no green power light and no bass. so its either my amp or the remote wire

 

im not sure about the settings for testing the remote line, but just splice a little bit off of your power line, and put it in the remote input on your amp. if it works, then youll know that the problem is with your remote wire. if not, its something else.

 

but if i wire like that then the amp will stay on all the time wont it?

 

easiest thing to do is to make a small wire to connection between your + terminal and your remote turn on terminal. If the amp turns on, something is wrong with your turn on wire.

If you wanted to get fancy with your multimeter... unplug the remote turn on lead and put the red led from the multimeter to the red and the black to ground on the car somewhere. It should read 0 in DC Volts mode.

With the car on and the head unit turned on, it should read 12v...

 

think its my remote wire off of the head unit then as i get nothing with the key on and off with the turn on wire . that was having the multimeter **** turned to 20v

 

well with the amp turn on wire bad that is coming off the radio. where is the next best wire to catch that has a power on off with the key? the rear 12v acc plug?

 

Only thing about our cars that frustrates me is that when you turn the key the car shuts everything off except for power to the starter... so you get power to your stuff(amps whatever) then off then back on. My equipment doesnt like it so I wired in a switch so I can turn it all on when I start the car.

Blah anyway. The 12v plug is fine.


*edit* you might want to investigate that turn on led... that wire has come disconnected more than likely and is hanging around back there doing gosh know what.

positive... been using the same ground for 2 years...plus i already checked it lol

make sure you dont have the "amp turn off" option selected in that thing...

I dont know how to mess with that but I am pretty sure that model has that feature...check your manual.

 

well the remote wire should be hot when the head unit is on... so with the head unit on take a voltmeter to the wire...
