How to install USB plug into a dash panel?
What part would I need to flush-mount a USB receptacle into a flat panel I am installing in my dash?
In a nutshell, I am hard-mounting my GTech Pro RR, which has a Serial port for data downloads. I have a Serial-to-USB cable, so I can plug the GTech into my PC's USB port. I want to be able to plug a USB cable from a laptop into the dash and download data from the Gtech.
I have searched and Googled for something that would seem like a plug or USB mounting kit, but have turned up nothing. I know folks have mounted USB in their cars. How'd ya do it?
Thx

Take a usb port off a pc usb adapter that takes up a pci slot. unscrew it from the metal adapter and mount it to a plastic panel in the dash, you would probably have to solder the wires to your usb/serial adapter. You would dremel a rectangular port in the plastic and drill the 2 mounting screws.
