Default JL Audio Sub Questions?

I just ordered a sub box from ZEnclosures for 2 "10s. I wanted to see what is the best subs I can buy for a max of $140.00 a piece. I listen to alot of rap so I would like deep bass. I heard JL Audio is the best brand...Thank you .

Default JL Audio

I will go for the the JL audio 10W3v3

Then maybe consider the Kickers CVRs or Polk/momo.

Good luck

Is the sub box sealed or ported? Do you know the internal space of the sub box? Find that information and buy subs that can work with it. JL Audio has a calculator on their web site to help you.

The ZEnclosure box has approximately .75 cubic feet of airspace. I priced the JL W1 at 129.99 and the W3 at 179.99 Do you think there would be a huge difference in sound between the two. Also, what do you guys think of Boston Acoustic speakers. I heard some 10's today and they sounded pretty good.

Or you can get a really good value for your dollar and get a non mainstream sub.

My recommendations would be Image Dynamics(IDQ if you can find it) ID10V3, Arc Audio ARC 10. Those are speakers I've used personally and they all sound so much better than the W3 I had. The Image Dynamics can be had for $150 or so. The Arc might be more like $200.
I'm also hearing good things about Sounsplinter SL-i10, Adire Audio Kodas and Ascendant Audio Arsenal. both the Soundsplinter and the AA Arsenal are right around $150. SQ subs with a low extension and plenty of bass. I'm considering one of those for my Z.
Most of these subs like about 300-400 watts RMS. I think the AA Arsenal is the only exception, about 500-600.
I think all of those would be well suited to the Z enclosure(I just ordered one from Mike).

Nothing wrong with JL at all. I've used them and liked them. But, once you try some of these non-marketed, audiophile quality subs you'll be amazed and I'd bet you wouldn't go back to JL.

I dont know if they would fit but look in to the Power Acoustik **** series. I had 2 12'' in my Xterra and those things can move concrete. Look them up and see what you think.

One More Question. Does anybody recommend any good amps for around $300-400. I would also prefer a wired bass remote. Sorry about all the noob questions..

I got a 500/1 JL amp for $425. It has a remote bass link i put in the coin holder. I have (1) 10'' W6 v2 and it drops like crazy. I listen to alot of rap too. I spent about $300 in sound proofing and i still get rattling so becareful. In such a small cabin you probably won't need more than 1 sub. Instead of spending on two subs just buy one good one. I also have a zenclosure box and it sounds amazing. Check it out. If you're already commited to the box, then look for a better price on the subs. If I remeber correctly, the only place in El Paso that sells JL is right off I-10, they sold home audio too. I don't remeber their name, but I do remeber that they were way too expensive. Look around you might find a better deal.

Default 2 x JL 10W6v2 w/ JL 500/1

This is the best conbination for the money, 2 x JL 10W6v2 w/ JL 500/1, they fit perfectly on the Zenclosure. If you are in a budget get the 10W3v3.

I Ordered 2 x JL 10W6v2 w/ JL 500/1 for $840 shipped. Brand new, Full warranty.

good luck.

I had the amp and the 2 subs installed today....They sound really good but my amp is still a little underpowered. My only problem is when I start the car I hear a little thump coming from either the amp or box. Has anybody heard of this? Also, I put the amp on the zenclosure amp rack but I noticed during the day the amp gets Really Hot. Will the heat damage the amp? Thanks again.

Not to be rude but you could do a lot better and spend half as much.
JL is ok stuff but there are plenty of other brands that make a better product and cost less.
And no need to buy JL amps either...overpriced. You can buy stuff like Memphis, US Amps, even Kicker stuff for way less.
To each his own but I too once believed that JL was the end all be all before I was introduced into the world of non marketed products.
