Default Touch-screen display??

Hey all.. I'm new here, so forgive me if this has been answered before!

I just picked up a '03 Base Z. My question is how do I go about replacing the radio? As in putting in a "touch-screen system"?? Suggestions for what to use? Size I would need? Etc.

I really would appreciate any input.

Thanks in advance,

Congrats and welcome to the club...I grew up in Clearwater
Depends on what you mean by touch-screen system...there are many systems out there that are touch screen--kenwood, alpine, pioneer etc etc. Pioneer makes some nice units like the Avic Z1 which is a double din touch screen with Mp3, Nav etc. Kenwood also makes a nice double din unit. Or you could get a flip out touch screen system. Either way, what you'd need is to remove the factory radio and replace all speakers--basic stereo upgrade.
I did see that you were looking at a screen for the cubby--going this route you would need to hook the screen up to a dvd source. This would not integrate with the stereo in any way, unless you install a car computer

If i have time this week i will post a write up along with some pics, i have a touch screen computer which i installed in place of where the stock radio was. This in my opinion is the best route, only cost about $800 for parts and will outperform any pioneer or any other type on touch screen unit on the market now.

alright great. I will have to look into that dave.

I have done some research on them, and what I am looking for is more of a double din size, "mounted" (not flip out) style to go where the factory is currently. Requirement wise for it... I am looking for mp3, cd, am/fm, possibly dvd. No need for navigation.

Anyone have suggestions on exact models to look into? I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg here to make it into a show car, but I do know that you get what you pay for, so i'm not trying to grab up the cheapest one out there.

Again, thanks for the help!

I do not have a flip out monitor, it is a "double din " looking piece. I took a xenarc 7" touch screen monitor and made a custom trim ring that lets it sit flush where the original cd player used to go. So it looks just like any of the double din units would in the dash just alot more powerful, alot more options, and cost less.
