Default Need Help with Alpine Head Unit (7995)

I just had an Alpine 7995 installed today using the Metra Dash kit. I really like the head unit so far, but there are a few things that I have not been able to figure out.

1. With the dash kit, there were several pieces. The installer told me that the cover for the top DIN wouldn't fit because the head unit is motorized. This causes a gap around the head unit that I think would look much better if the 'cover' was there. Does anyone know anything about this?

2. I don't know what several terms mean. I need help trying to pick the settings for the following:

bass center frequency
bass band width (Q-Factor)
treble center frequency
High and low pass filters of the crossover
Time correction for each speaker
MX Mode

Additionally, I need help trying to pick the right settings for my JL 500/5 amp. I don't know what the buttons do on the back (the ones you turn with a flat head screw driver).

Thanks!

In regard to the dash kit problem, I'm talking about the piece at the bottom right of this picture.
