How Do I Fix the Outside Temperature Guage
I had Best Buy install a ipod interface for me today, when they were done the outside temperature just reads as 4 dash's and the ice light is on They didn't know how to fix it and basically said "not my problem". Does anyone know what's wrong, is there a simple reset I need to do, please help!

From the service manual (driver information system):
With ignition switch ON position, trip computer displays outside air temperature according to signal of outside
air temperature from unified meter and A/C amp. Unified meter and A/C amp. receives these signals from outside
air temperature sensor.
The outside air temperature is displayed while the ignition switch is in the ON position.
Signal is supplied
through ambient sensor terminal 1
to unified meter and A/C amp. terminal 39.
through unified meter and A/C amp. terminal 10
to triple meter terminal 5.
Indication range is between -30 and 55°C (-22 and 131°F). When outside air temperature is less than -30°C (-
22°F) or more than 55°C (131°F), display shows “--”. When outside temperature is less than 3°C (37°F) continuously, display will “ICY” indicator illuminate as warning. In this case, the display will change to the outside air temperature mode even though the display is showing a different mode. The “ICY” indicator will continue illuminate as long as the temperature remains below 4°C (39°F).
The ambient sensor (temp sensor) plugs into the Unified Meter and A/C amplifier so it is likely the fault of the installation. The AC amp is a white box located just forward of the shifter and under the radio area. Check to see if other things aren't working as that little white "black" box controls some otherthings - like the heating and cooling, fuel gauges, speed pulse ....

I bet they tried to use a power or ground off the A/C amp pictured above. I did the same thing when I installed my XM . . . I dont remember what messed up but basically the only thing you should really tap off the A/C amp is the speed signal for a NAV system. Tell your installers that the A/C amp is not a great place to tap.

Thanks.
Thanks.
I looked thru the driver's information system service manual and don't see that it's possible. Is there a local dealer there that could possibly help you?
