I've got the HU installed, I just need speakers to pair with it. Currently I'm only really interested in changing the rear 2 speakers, but the others may be an option in the near future.

Hmmm, sorry for going OT but i'd like to know more about this. Do you have any examples or links that explain this in more detail?

I'm just going by what i've been able to read off various audio websites. Obviously a speakers actual impedance changes based on the frequency, but it's impedance rating is supposed to give a general performace characteristic when trying to match it to a specified amplifier. In the articles i've read about it, from the perspective of the load on an amp, it is acceptible to consider the speaker's rated impedance value as a resistance load value and apply ohm's law.

Hi there,

I have some of the speakers in my Garage -- you can have them for free -- just pick 'em up from me -- I work in Concord in the day. You can have both.

Replacing the oem speakers with normal rated (8 ohm) is not a problem. What you may find is that the new speakers are louder at the old settings. Just adjust the front/rear bias to compensate.
I installed Kenwoods with the movable tweeter and got excellent results. I like to favor the rear by plus one to get even output.
