I've got the HU installed, I just need speakers to pair with it. Currently I'm only really interested in changing the rear 2 speakers, but the others may be an option in the near future.

I'm just going by what i've been able to read off various audio websites. Obviously a speakers actual impedance changes based on the frequency, but it's impedance rating is supposed to give a general performace characteristic when trying to match it to a specified amplifier. In the articles i've read about it, from the perspective of the load on an amp, it is acceptible to consider the speaker's rated impedance value as a resistance load value and apply ohm's law.

Replacing the oem speakers with normal rated (8 ohm) is not a problem. What you may find is that the new speakers are louder at the old settings. Just adjust the front/rear bias to compensate.
I installed Kenwoods with the movable tweeter and got excellent results. I like to favor the rear by plus one to get even output.
