Default Pioneer AVIC-Z1 Install Help

How hard is it to install the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 and use the stock bose speakers?

Will I need to buy the PAC unit? http://www.pac-audio.com/oem1kits/ro...or+ROEM-1+kits

Any one recommend the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 ?

Check and make sure that a new unit, there have been several postings about people getting that price from a vendor that only sells new, a phone call to said vendor (a camera shop online) confirms that the units are indeed refurbs. $1450 is below dealer cost so something is amiss.
I have one installed in my Z. It is without a doubt, the best head unit I've ever purchased.

Followed your link, that unit is for interfacing an aftermarket head unit with the BOSE upgraded sound system. If you have a Bose system, you will need this to make the amplifiers turn on. If you have a basic CD-player system you dont need this adapter. The standard wiring harness for a Z will have a Remote on lead that can be conneted to the remote on wire of the headunit. The bose systems are more complicated than that, hence the need for a special adapter.

I have the non bose head unit. Is there an adaptor harness for a non slice install? I would hate to use vampire taps, if there is one.

What does the Z-1 weigh compaired to the non bose head unit?

The regular metra wiring harness should be all you need to wire your aftermarket head to the factory non bose speakers. Just remember to connect your remote on lead from the harness to the remote on of the head unit.

Dont know how much it weighs though...

For the Bose you will need the PAC adapter you listed in your first post. That adapter provides the inline amps with the signals the Bose Unit would have sent to the amplifiers (If it was still in the car). The inline amps of a bose system require more than a regular remote wire to power on and function.

Mine's running with the Bose. I did not do the install myself, and I think there was some trick to using the stock sub, but I didn't have to purchase anything extra, and mine sounds great. (Whatever he did)
