Default Finally a DD Head unit with VGA touchscreen

Coming this month, according to this website:

http://www.digitalww.com/DWW-6500.htm

It seems crazy to me that no major manufactuer has input for computer/touchscreen control. They have left the market open for others.

they have been around for a while, but no one makes a good one, meaning something that acutalyl is reliable and sounds good or has a good interface...

to be honest, i would wait until one of the bigger companies brings one to the market...

I'm suprised. Haven't seen one that is a real double din until this one.

Just can't find them here. I think the major manufacturers are avoiding it like the plague, with a HU touchscreen VGA, you just hook up a cheap laptop or bare bones PC and you can nav, telephone, MP3, movie, all of it, for much much less money than they charge for their proprietary stuff. Just price out a Pioneer, Eclipse, Kenwood, Alpine, DD unit with nav, DVD, bluetooth, ipod hookup etc, big money.

Like Sony, they know the money is in proprietary.

EDIT: Just confirmed from Dynamix, this screen has NO MOUSE control via touch screen. Even with VGA input, I consider it worthless for Car PC projects. Sorry I posted this now

Still not a big name but Dynamix sells one as well

Car Backing System allows for auto switch to rearview camera when you are backing up car
IR Remote Controller
Sharp 6.5" 16:9 High Definition Active Matrix LCD
Viewing Angle L:60 R:60 T:50 B:60
Double Din Size
Contrast Ratio 200:1
Viewing Angle U/60, D/60, R/80, L/80
Resolution 1200x 234
Dimensions: 178 x 202 x 100 (cm)

I have two of there 706 ultrabrights and they have worked great for me.

The Dynamix does not state if the unit has touchscreen output for control of a computer. It does have VGA input, a member of mp3car emailed them. The pdf attached to the web page shows a different monitor. Touchscreen output is a key necessity for computer control.

Ok, I just emailed Dynamix to get clarification, the "touch screen" aspect of this unit only operates internal functions, like am/fm, cd, dvd. There is no mouse control, so you are right, it is worthless for a Car PC, even if it does have VGA input.

I edited my previous post in hopes no one orders it thinking it will work.

Good catch gringott

The web page is very vaguely worded, no details really on input and output, what threw me for a minute was the pdf attachment on the page showing computer applications and mentioning touchscreens.
