350z Indash Navi Question... Noob.
Hi
I have a 2k3 350z touring, 6 speed. I wanted to buy an indash navigation system for it. I have around $1500 to spend (including installation). I have seen pictures on this forum where people have the dual monitors and I wanted to have that same set up.
Something kind of like this
http://www.turbophile.com/feature_ca...z/dash-lrg.jpg
I am not exactly sure what the second monitor is for, but honest I just want DVD capabilities, navigation, and 6 cd changer.
So please any advice on what I should look at would be great.
Thanks

Yea I just ordered my Eclipse AVN 5500 unit. My friend works at circut city so I got "hooked up," but you can find them on ebay for like a grand. There is a lower model called the 5345 or something. My boy has it in his RSX and it is rediculous, I just wanted a better one than him. But yea I only paid 1200 for mine but my jew *** friend wanted 200 for a service charge. It has Navi, DVD, and have them run a Xbox360 cable from the headunit so u can have some crazy **** in ur car. Good luck.... I'd go with the Eclipse

Pretty much I wanted to know why one needs two monitors in the 350z...what is the 2nd monitors purpose??? Also I dont want an xbox in my car, just the navi and dvd/cd playing capabilities.
Pretty much tell me how much I would need to spend to get this set up

That guy just has the OEM navigation that comes optional on Z's and then has an aftermarket double din radio. Why he has two screens; well the oem navigation system was not meant to be used to play dvd's however i saw a thread in the electrical/audio/video forum that have some members trying to form a group by for some hardware that will allow you to play dvd's on the stock navi. It seems like your content with your system b/c the stock system that your touring came with does have a 6disc changer already, all you basically need is oem navigation and the hardware to make it play dvd's. But then you said you wanted 2 moniters and weren't exactly sure what it does... lol

Yeah, they were saying something to that effect, how can I make this work? Do I have to buy an adaptor to make this work? I seen many people use their stock navi with an indash.

I'm gonna bump this, because I have the HU and waiting for some instructions on how to make this work. I need to know how to wire the navi voice to the HU. In simple terms, when it comes to audio, I have no idea. Thanks for your time.

It can be done you just have to go to a shop that does more custom audio. Best buy and circuit city can sometimes have great installers, but most of the excellent ones work at actual audio shops.
As for the original poster. Go with an Eclipse double Din or a pioneer Avic-D2. If you just have to have the 6-disc capabilities you can try to find an Avic-Z1. I believe that it has the 6 disc in it. The 2nd screen is pretty much just for a bling factor or is only used for the sole playing of DVD's. All can be had for less than 1500 and just do the install yourself.

I'm running the Stock Navigation with my Pioneer Head Unit. I have the Navi voice hooked up to a separate speaker hidden in the cubby behind my seat. I also have the Navi hooked up to the Head Unit; the Head Unit mutes itself or ATT's when it detects the Navi voice speaking.
Do a search in the electronics forum, someone posted a threaded which I used to do this step by step. You need resistors and some wiring and time to do it, but it's not that bad.
