I noticed you had a s/c...but plz take into consideration the weight of all this equipment...if that's important to you. I have one w7 and I hear they weigh 60 lbs...correct me if i'm wrong. I'm considering downgrading to a lighter sub because the Z is heavy as it is....just something to keep in mind.

i have the Alpine Type x in a 10, and am very happy with it
i also have a JL W7 in my Beamer, and im not sure if its the enclosure or the sub, but the bass is completely different
the Alpine is much tighter and punchier, whereas the W7 is very very boomy, the type of bass that still lingers around after the note has passed and can be heard down the street
i prefer the Alpine because i prefer the bass to be heard inside the car only, plus it matches my SQL setup, with MB Quart Qline speakers and DTS 5.1 processor/Centre channel speaker

dude that is the tightest subwoofer box EVER!!! i have a w7 in my Z and you are correct....It is very boomy and there is no distinction to each note when it hits....i prefer a sub like yours.....and its lighter.

my whole install is glass, plexi is crap - scratches too easily and flexes when the sub hits

like legit glass? thats odd, havent really seen it done.
im going to make the box out of mdf wood like always but make 2 sides with thick thick plexi, making them small to minimalize flexing. im still just brainstorming my ideas but it should look roughly similiar to yours...sorry lol.
edit: oh and where you used vinyl to wrap it im thinking of using CF wrap.(looks like legit CF, not some "CF pattern")

I hope you don't expect to have a warranty on that JL equipment, because you won't have one. JL does NOT authorize ANY online sales. You blow an amp or a sub and you're SOL. Good luck

i bought them from RMSMotorparts.com.au here in Aus
but i also saw them available at VividRacing when i was comparing prices from US
yeap they are motorized, wiring the in was a little tricky but my audio guy had it worked out after an hour or so testing what the stock wires did then matching them up
the only functionality missing is heated (i think!) and electric fold in
