Default Sub tuning help...Stealthbox

I have the JL Stealthbox w/ the JL 500/1. Does anyone have a suggestion to help tune out the "boomyness" ???

Thanks.

Q is set to about "1.5"
Center Frequency Control is about "50"
Boost is "+4 db"
LP is "100" w/ slope "18 db"

Not sure if I need to turn the Infrasonic Filter on to help.

JimRHIT, so I should turn the amp EQ off all together? That will also kill the "Q". Is this what your suggesting? I'll also set the X-Over to 80Hz.

Thanks guys.

Yes ... here is an example of what you are doing ... you are adding a boominess that is unecessary with that EQ

My advice is to turn it off altogether

a better example.

In these you can see that the sub is playing frequencies above 100Hz with full authority (headache bass) . The 80HZ XO and no eq alleviate this problem by at least 5dB (almost twice as "quieter/cleaner")

Try this out .. let me know how it works for you.

+1 on the Low Pass @ 80Hz. It'll filter out what is designed for mid-bass drivers.

Ahhhh.. This is good stuff! OK, I set my LP to 80Hz for the sub. I also killed the EQ on the amp. I tried both ways with Alice in Chains, Jar of Flies. Definitely cleaner. I also set my front and rear speakers to HP at 63Hz (next lower step below 80Hz on my HU). It has a smoother sound now. VERY nice. Thanks.
Before HP=80
LP=100
Now
HP=63
LP=80
Any thoughts on the HP filter setting?
