Just hooked up my 3-channel Eclipse amp to my 2ohm sub but not my speakers yet... wanted to test it so turned the stereo on... it turns on for 2-3 seconds and the power light fades and it shuts off. Any ideas?

Tested the voltage and I get ~12.5 as the power supply and for the remote-lead wire, and the ground is the same ground I used for my JL 1000/1. Could it be I just need to hook up the speakers or is it something else?

 

Are you measuring the voltage at the time that it is turning off? What is the source of the power?

 

Disconnect the sub and see what happens. I remember years ago when I used to install the Eclipse 5 Channel amps, you could not go under 4Ohms on the sub output. It would create the same problem you are having. Not sure if Eclipse has changed there sub output impedence over the years, but give it a try.

I'll try that... my sub is 2ohms, but it says it puts out 280rms at 2ohms, so I'm not sure wtf is happening. Gonna try these tomorrow and will get back

 

Your 2-ohm sub shouldn't make the amp turn off right after power up, something else is wrong...

 

where did you hook up the remote wire to? i just had this problem and ran the remote wire direct from the battery and the problem is now solved....now i just have to find the correct remote connection behind the HU....or one with enough voltage

 

it turned off because the speakers weren't hooked up, guess it had some protection where it has to have everything hooked up...
