Default Do I need all of this for HU install?

The audio shop is telling me I need to pick up a line level adapter to hook into wiring harness, instead of just getting the metra harness (claims they always get alot of noise without the use of the line level adapter), and an antenna adapter of some sort? Does this all sound correct, costing me about $80 just for the line level adapter, wiring harness, and antenna adapter....

Does your aftermarket headend have line level outputs? If so you don't need the adapter. The antenna jack from the stock radio is a standard Motorola jack and plugs into every car radio ever made.

It's got Fr and Rear/Sub RCA's...... so I don't need the adapter? Just run metra straight off these?

I'm ordering an Alpine CDA-9857 HU and the shop also said I need an antenna adaptor -- is this true?? I thought all I needed was the Metra 70-7550 wiring harness.

That is a bunch of bull. You do not need an antenna adaptor. Some of the older Nissans needed it because they used a diversity antenna, but that is not true for our vehicles. Either they do not know enough to be installing or they are just trying to get extra money out of you. The only reason they would need some kind of line level converter is if you have a Bose system.

Thanks!! I figured the shop was trying to get extra money... maybe to make up for the great deal they gave me on the HU. I told them to only get the Metra wiring harness for me.

I do have the BOSE system, but does the metra harness run directly off RCA inputs? If that's the case then I wouldn't see a need for a line level converter because the signal would already be proper... correct?
