Default Those who are running Alpine Type R's

Please tell what is the best amp to run these subs. I purchased a Hifonics amp to run these and they sound like doo doo! Took it to the local shop and he told me the amp is dirty and something about dampening has lost control of the the cone. I know the guy personally that runs the shop and he was not trying to sell me anything either. I was interested in buying a JL 250/1 but was wondering if the Alpine 605 would work.

Please help a brother out!

R,

I am running the Alpine 605 for the 2 10'' type R's and I really like the sound. Great Amp, no issues at all.

Classic 6, I was told that that amp would not work on the Dual 4 ohms Type-R 10" Subwoofer . Are they lying to me?

ok. Your friend is correct. If your subs were two ohm then the 605 would work great if you ran them in parrel. If you want the 605, you would be better off just running 1 of those subs. That amp with those two subs would only produce half the power.

Here are some options:
-2 mrdm605s, one for each sub.
-1 Alpine pdx 11000. Wire the subs so they see a 4ohm load and youll have 1000rms going to them.
-JL 500/1. You would be underdriving them slightly, but would have a high dampening factor(better control).

There are hundreads of other choices but I only wanted to mention what you have alreaady stated for brands.

As far as the MRD amps you suggested above is it this one

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fdYdipi...0&I=500MRPM650

or this one

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-fdYdipi...0&I=500MRDM605

Thanks, I figure if I run one of these amp to each sub, I am running it in a 2ohm load or 4 ohm load?

Either of those will work. The second one will give you more control as its a
v12 series. As long as each sub is wired in parrallel then you will be at 2 ohms each.

I don't know much about E.D. amps but by the specs Lots of power for a little amp. The only thing that worries me is the dampining factor is only 300. But it is a sub amp.

As for what ohm level....One dual 4 ohm sub wired in parallell will be at 2 ohms.
