stereo experts; please....
I have the stock Bose stereo and when I put it up full volume which is like 31 I think, all I get is a bunch of static. I brought it in to Nissan and they said I needed a new stereo. I waited a week for it to come in. They put the stereo in. I get in the car and expect to be blown away, and it's the same freakin' sound except the static is a little louder. I went right back inside and had the guy come into the car and listen. He agreed something is seriously wrong!! How the f**k did the guy install that thing, listen to it and let it go back to the customer sounding like that?? Anyway, does it sound like it's the speakers or the amp?? What do you guys think? Don't speakers today have like safety features so they can't be blown out? I'm bringing it back again tomorrow and i'd like to get it fixed a.s.a.p. Do any of these mechanics know about stereo's? Any advice??? Thanks, Lisa -By the way I just bought the car a month ago, In the morning when I went to throw in a cd and see what the stereo could do I got a bunch of static and can hear music but barely. I hope that clarifies the question alittle

this problem could be easilly solved by making shure you have a good GROUND. but i'm not there to listen to the "noise" your mentioning. but this is what I would check since its the simplest and cheapest and it would make the noise the same if the stereo was switched.
I agree with the ground check first. If both on the stereo and the amp are good then have them take a piece of speaker wire and check each speaker line one at a time bypassing the amp to see if the amp is shot. This is the easiest way if they don't know what they are doing(you can also bench test an amp). If they do they should be able to tell using a continuity/resistance meter. Example, if one line is giving a resistance number of just say 5 and all the rest are 10, there is the problem. Hope this helps.
no matter what you are using, Blose or aftermarket, full volume will result in static. You are clipping out the output signal of the blose unit. A signal is sent from the CD player to the Blose amp. If the sound from the CD player is clipped, you get static. My guess.
All that to say, you are going to have static no matter what if you turn it up all the way.

Power clipping (volume too high) usually results in distortion.... Improper grounding and poor shielding from other power sources usually results in static or noise. Sometimes its difficult to differentiate the two.
