Head unit install question
Hi, I'm going to connect speaker wires from amplifier directly to the head unit,
Do I:
Crimp speaker cable from the amp directly onto the new radio harness's speaker wires, then just proceed to connect the radio harness onto the
stock harness as usual.
Or should I crimp speaker cable from the amp directly onto the stock harness's speaker wires?
Thanks, much appreciated.

So are you attempting to change your head end out and maintain your stock speaker wires?
Question - do you have a Bose system?
Question - are you going to use an external amplifier vice just the included ones in the head end.
Normally the system is wired:
Head-end - RCA line level outputs --> amplifier inputs
Amplifier - speaker level outputs --> speakers

Hi Paul,
Yes, I do plan on maintaining the stock speaker wires.
No, no Bose system.
Yes, an external 4 channel amplifier will be used to power the front speakers, leaving the rear speakers in stock status, while bridging ch 3/4 into mono to power a single sub.
Hope this clearify the question, thanks.

Ah OK in this case I recommend getting a crutchfield wiring adapter.
Headend -- RCA line level ---> Amplifier ---> your own supplied speaker wires running up from where the amplifier is mounted to behind the headend ---> Crutchfield 350Z wiring harness ---> factory wiring harness.
The advantage of using an adapter harness is that you can pull the plug out from the jack and restore the factory headend if you ever sell the car. Also I highly recommend soldiering the connections vice crimping and using a hot soldier pencil inside the dash is a pain.

Thanks again Paul,
So just to clarify a bit more and I think I'm good to go.
I can connect my own supplied speaker wires from the amp to the crutchfield adapter (by way of soldering or crimping) without touching the dash wires in the stock harness?
The dash stock wire harness will be able to retain it's shape and form, right?
I was worried I may have to cut the stock speaker wires then connect them that way, thus voiding the warrenty.
What prompted this thread was when I called crutchfield tech support they told me this CANNOT be done. Only other ways they suggested was going through the doors and directly to the speakers, or, cut the factory speaker wires in the dash and know my color codes, which I did not want to try.
So this thread was to confirm that.
But then again, how do I connect my own supplied speaker wires to the included harness of the new radio, then to the wiring adapter?
Thanks a million again, I really needed help on this.
