I have a friend who just picked up a 2006 Z Grand Touring, which obviously has the Bose H/U. He wants to add the factory OEM Sirius receiver but the dealer tells him it can't be done. Aren't all 2004+ H/U's Sat ready?

 

No. Sat-optioned HUs are different; they have a satellite button next to CD and Radio on top. He will have to replace his HU with one of those. Not worth the cost at all.

Here's a newsflash. Not sure about earlier model years, but all 2006's are prewired for Satellite radio (convertibles excluded). The harness can be found taped to the underside of the amplifier. As for the HU, once the Sat receiver is connected, when you press the "Radio" button, it'll cycle through and display Sirius. My friend picked up the Nissan OEM Sirius kit for less than $300 and installed it himself. Works beautifully and again, he did not have to change the HU.
