My new system (Newb installed)
So I've mainly worked on the performance side of cars and have done a little bit of car audio stuff like changing speakers and a simple HU install, but nothing extensive.
***Thanks for everyone on this forum posting their installs and answering so many of my Q's!!! I went through tons of them to get ideas of what I like and how I wanted this to end up.***
Here's what I installed:
-Kicker front components mounted w/ Zenclosure's speaker spacers
-Kicker rear speakers
-Kicker Solo-baric L5 10” sub in Kicker's ported box (I'll be getting a Zenclosure Type-S custom subwoofer sealed enclosure for this shortly!!!! )
-Kicker 5-channel 700-Watt amp
-JVC KD-DV6200 (DVD/CD/MP3 player)
-connected to 7” LCD screen (Archos AV700 DVR)
-Chase video Camera in-car PIP set-up (2 bullet cameras)
front speakers /w Zenclosure's spacer's (perfect fit, great quality)
front passenger side:
I mounted the cross over near the speakers on the door...there's enough room in that area for them to fit.
the front speakers allow the tweeters to attach to the center of the cones:
difference between OE and Kicker's:
Here's the sub and enclosure I got (It's plenty loud for me...I haven't turned it up all the way b/c my ears start to hurt!):
bass boost controller:
JVC's HU:
The sides of the HU stick out a bit too much...next time I take off the cneter consul, I'll adjust it to sit further back:
The HU has the AV wiring plumbed into the cubby, where I can attach my Archos unit. I can play videos from the Archos unit and listen through the sound system ,or play a DVD through the HU and watch from the Archos (I've got a few bugs to work out to make this portion of it work better...it keeps turning off the screen b/c it thinks it's in record mode...)
I've also got a picture-in-picture unit from Chase which is fed by 2 cameras:
(I'm hoping to get some Kewl shots this next autoX season...)
In all, this was a fun install. I did it over a few weeks b/c it's hard for me to get a whole weekend to work on cars (Newly married, new house, and lots of OT at work)

nice install... but you should considering painting your speaker brackets to prevent weathering to the MDFs; water might and moisture might get to them since they are installed in the door panel.
