Default passport 8500 installation

i hardwired my passport 8500. i removed the entire center console and spliced the radar detector wire into one of my stereo wires. everything works great but my service engine light turned on. would anyone happen to know why the light is on and how i can turn it off?

Do a search on service engine soon. Did you disconnect the battery? If so that is the problem. Start your car 100 times

Have you condidered hardwiring it into the mirror. There is a 12 volt switched line running into it for the garage/accessories remote. I have had mine wired this way for about two months now and it works great. The location I chose allowed for the best rearward unobstructed view in my opinion.

Default more detail on review hook-up

Could you give more detail on the review hookup? Where and how did you splice in? Did you keep a fuse or not?
Thanks, this looks like something I would really like to do.

I installed it similarly (below the mirror) and ran it up through the little wire cover thing off the mirror, but I just ran a black phone line all the way to the fuse box right behind the dead pedal. I wasn't sure how much power the mirror drew, and it wasn't much harder to run the line across the headliner, then down the a pillar to the floor.

Default Looks good, but.....

What two wires are you patched into? Which is positive, which is negative? I plan to do the same thing, so any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
