Default 5:1 surround sound ?

Is anybody running surround sound in their Z? Is it worth spending the extra $$ to achieve this?

Why would you want surround sound in your car? Do you watch movies in there? Wouldn't it be better to sit at home and watch movies and spend your money on a home theater?

You realize, DVDs may be programmed with surround sound, but CD's are not. It seems kind of silly to have surround sound for a 7" LCD screen or something. It kind of kills the whole theater experience.
IMHO.

Rear speakers kill the whole experience in general.

surround sound in a car makes a big difference when watching a DVD or listening to DVD audio (Music videos)... However to get TRUE surround sound, you need a 5.1 decoder, a center channel (good luck in that car unless you want to lose your cubby) and a sub. a 4-channel amp is also a good idea... But unless you watch movies in your car or listen to DVD audio, it's really not worth it

Pioneer makes this. You might get distracted while driving.

Alpine makes a center single din center channel too: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-KoxOxWO...p?i=500SBS05DC

But after reading the above posts, I have to agree, it is a waste of money. Thanks for the input, I didn't think about the fact that only dvd's would benefit from this.
