nav audio louder with aftermarket HU?
Okay, i have an alipine 7897 installed with a mute circuit wired up as well (thanks onecoolee). Everything works great except that the nav audio could be a little louder. I have the volume cranked up all the way on the nav voice, and the speaker is behind the dash on the drivers side. I was trying to find an inline amplifier and CC had one, but it only drives an 8ohm speaker. I am currently using an infiniti 3.5 which is a 4ohm.
So, any other ideas?

Quick...I also have the same problem with the Alpine 7897 HU and the Alpine NAV system. It is going back to the shop for the installation of a small external speaker with a volume control. Do you also have a buzzing sound when the NAV voice comes on? Is this part of the system or is it distortion?

well, i ended up changing my setup, again. This time i took the nav speaker from my old pioneer HU and mounted it behind my head on the trim panel. It is loud enough now, as well as fairly clear. I don't have any crackling noises at all. It doesn't sound as good as it did from the 3.5 inifiniti, but i figure what kind of sound can you expect from a 2" speaker anyway. I will try and get some pics of my system this weekend after my speaker install..
