Default Another Battery Question

My battery died in my Z.

I ordered an optima yellow top D5IR battery from a site online, and this is the SECOND site that had to refund me my money because Optima has discontinued this battery. Also, the red top 34R or whatever is out of stock.

i'm having a sound system installed soon, nothing to major. i just want a good battery, prefer not to be to heavy, and i really had my mind set on that yellow top 26lbs battery.

so what other options do i have as far as batteries? i dont want to go get a $50 battery from wal-mart.

I haven't replaced the battery in the Z yet, but I have the Exide Orbital in my Xterra and it is an awesome battery. You can find it at any local auto parts store I would imagine. I paid $120 locally.

http://www.exide.com/products/automo...t_orbital.html

When the battery in the Z needs replacing, I will be getting another one of these batteries.

try a drycell battery. Plus, i'm surprised you cant find that battery locally. I had no problem finding one in my area. It IS a good battery though. I have two of them, one in my 78 corvette, and one in my Z. Never had a problem with either.

Try going to like an NTB and seeing if they can order one.

for dry cell

1- stinger yellow labels or red labels
2- kinetics purple series

these are not cheap

less ressistance then optima

more resilent in the amount of times battery can be completely drained and re-charged also from being drained once charge is applied you are completely charged in 90 seconds

STINGER A/V BATTERY IS A HAWKER ODYSESSY BATTERY!
If you guys want Optima style batteries that will kick *** in high output applications check out Hawker Odyssey batteries here.....
http://www.odysseyfactory.com/
Stinger and a lot of other big A/V battery suppliers use Hawker batteries for their high end competition batteries but......... they re-badge them with their name and brand! GO TO BOTH WEBSITES AND LOOK CLOSELY AT THE PICTURES OF BOTH BATTERIES AND THE SPECS!
Hawker deep cycle batteries are extensively used by the U.S. military for there hi tech vechicles!
Don't buy Optima blue or yellow top as this is all gimmic with the round windings. I had 2 blue tops and they died a premature death with my 2400watt A/V system. I researched this subject extensively!
Hawker Odyssey batteries are flawless and I've been using them for 2 years on my 300ZX SQ competition sound system without a gilch!
They are the best and they are less expensive THAN A STINGER BATTERY!
Stinger upcharges 100% when they re-badge the Hawker Odyssey!

I hope this is helpful!

Another thing that will save your battery is a grounding kit.. Get a good three wire grounding kit.. There are many out there.. I paid over 300 for mine from japan.. But there are cheaper.. IMHO they give your battery much more power and keep it charged/everlasting.....

I just installed an Odyssey PC680-MJT, using their hold-down billet. The battery was about $100 and the billet was $60, and I just mounted it right to the thing that the battery sits on by drilling 4 holes. It weighs 15.4 lbs, saving a good amount of weight for fairly cheap. It also has a pretty good warranty, around 3 years I think.

Was it a huge difference from stock in weight/volts? I felt a difference in the optima but not by much..

OP:
The Exide Orbital 75DT is the one you want for the 350Z. It is a great battery and now that I'm thinking of it, I might go pick one up this weekend. I get mine at a local chain called STS. Most auto parts stores should be able to order you one if they don't stock it.

As for the $300 grounding kit, I'm sure it adds some nice 'bling', but IMHO it's not worth it unless you are showing your car. Get some nice 4awg wire that is used for car audio systems (stinger, fosgate, street wires, directed, etc) and some ring terminals and star washers and run your own "big 3". Here's a little guide to "big 3" wiring: http://forum.sounddomain.com/ubb/ult...c;f=5;t=007801

Total cost if you shop around for wire and ring terminals, maybe $30.
