Default Clarion MAX675VD: Worth it or no?

Okay, I have a choice of a Clarion MAX675VD or a Alpine IVA-W200 from my uncle's shop. I was leaning towards Clarion MAX675VD since it looked 10x's better. But it's a 7" so i dont know if it can fit the Z's Navigation compartment?

Anyone got this in a Z at all?

This is the Clarion:

This is the Alpine:

Opinions?

Nav compartment? Why would you be installing this in the nav compartment instead of replacing the double DIN headunit - which is where these was made to fit?

They are both very nice units. I haven't tried out Clarion's new iPod interface, but I like the Alpine interface on the W200. Clarion's is supposed to be really nice too. Can't really go wrong with either. Price would be the deciding factor for me.

Well i like things like this hidden if possible. I live in an area where nice things arent meant to be shown when you're not there. I'm getting either or for $600 flat. So thats why I was asking if it can be fit into that lil cubby so I can hide it when Im not in the car.

ok, so then maybe someone else can chime in if it will fit or not.

Like I said above though, either unit will be sweet. Good luck with the install and post pics when done.

If you want to place either of these into the upper/forward cubby space (the OEM navigation space) and have a door close (or not, depending upon the year of your Z):

They won't fit. The stock cubby will not accomodate the units you are asking about. The only way to do that is building a completely custom cubby. Of course, you can fit these units into the Z's double-din space. --Spike

+1 to the words of Spike100,,,,,neither unit will fit in the upper cubby area. For hidden/safety issues, there was a thread on here somewhere, a guy hacked up his factory OEM radio,,made a faceplate to hide his aftermarket headunit. It was really a neat set-up. If someone was laying low---creeping,,,trying to check out your set-up/headunit,, all they would see is the factory POS sitting there. By that time, you have a chance to get your gun...LOL

Look at Alpine's new DD unit with portable Nav that can be installed. No video for the Ipod.

Clarion you can play Ipod video.

Pioneer and Kenwood now you can play video for Ipod. ---Kenwood displays album cover art.
