Duke... Thanks for the response. The Kenwood DNX7 sounds great to me. Garmin application software, NAVTEQ database, SD Card, and only $1400 (or whatever price you can get it for). I don't see how you can go wrong on this one. I'd pick this over any of the Pioneer units, and it really gives the Alpine units a "run-for-the-money." --Spike

Duke,

Where did you get it? I've been searching on the net today for it and everyone who lists it says it's either preorder or not avail. My bro wants this unit, so I'm trying to locate it.

I got one since I am a salesrep for Kenwood. Kenwood does not have anymore, they have all been shipped out to the dealers. P.M. me and I will give you a shop that was shipped out some units and is in your area. Let me know what area you are in.

Do you have any links to the new unit?? I am now thinking of getting this one for myself instead of waiting on the Alpine.

P.M. your E-mail address and I will send you some pics of the GUI. I have been trying to upload pics for the past two days, but it keeps telling me they are too large. I also have a powerpoint on the specs I could E-mail you.

Well now that's useful - how hard would it be for the idiot who designs this stuff to put a 10-20 GB storage as either a HD or non-mechanical? Having to put in a DVD for NAV to the exclusion of CD's strikes me as seriously primitive, and one dual-layer DVD should be able to cover the country with one disc - my OEM NAV in the G Coupe works just fine with one dual-layer DVD - and that dates back to Q3/2003 ('04 model).

dUH to the manufacturer...

Now that's much better. Can you control the iPod from the screen?

Duke, you mentioned stearign wheel control wire. Do you mean you can use the Z existing steering wheel controls to control the unit?

Hows the NAV? Is it exactly like the OG Garmin style nav screen? Is it any smoother then Garmin portables? What NAVTEQ version is it?

=) thanks

Last I checked it was version 8. Yes you use the existing Z steering wheel controls to control it. You just need to purchase the interface. This is not the universal one either it has the codes for both the Kenwood unit and the Z.
