Default i am so lost

all right so i have no clue about audio so i spent an hour reading multiple threads on what audio systems people upgraded to...and im still completely lost so lost i dont know what i want to ask. all i want to do is set up a carpc (this part isnt hard, im all right with computers) but i want to have decent sound for music and the occasional movie. yes "decent" is broad but i dont know brands nor do i know qualioty differences nor do i know much about how sound is equated to being good or bad......(if this makes no sense sorry, im prepared, i got a flamesuit ready)

..help?

honestly, one of the biggest issues with people getting into audio is the overload of info, everyone has an opinion, some good, some bad, all companies publish a ton of specs, some are meaningful, most arent...

so..honestly, ites bset to learn by doing, thats how i got started. fine someone knowledgeable, best if they are local, and try it out his way or waht not...the once you get a hang of it, you can learn more from there..

otherwise, you will sit for hours and hours and never figure out what you want and go crazy just thinking about all the opinions and combinations of ways of doing things

you can p/m me too or ask away here. i am a computer consultant by trade, and i always insist to sell a computer that meets the needs and always suggest to buy the most you can. in all my experience with fine automobiles and aftermarket audio, i still feel that there doesnt need to be the loudest, but somewhat of a great sound for the music tastes you have.

some people hate bass, and the same goes for crispy highs, but i would spend some time in a car audio showroom and take time to play with the boyz toyz in there before you step into it.

Define for yourself what is "enough" by demoing some people's cars/home stereos.

or..What do you normally listen to music on? Crap computer speakers? home theater in a box? b&w nautilus series towers, bi-amped with krell amps?

When you go into a car audio store, forget how the speakers sound on their demo wall. They will not sound the same in your car. Most of the time, they are engineered to sound great on the wall but not much else.

Once you know what you want you can go after it.

Describe what you want and we can help or talk to16psibrick, hes pretty good at pointing people in the right direction.

I have a 2004 350 Z and its now 2007, looking at making my move this year after a few years learning, getting ideas, getting to know the reviews from magazines like Car Audio and Performance Auto & sound. Its almost a hobby getting to know whats good and bad, install how toos, lighting, etching in plexiglass, custom enclosues etc. I find it fun to learn this stuff, so go online and start making your own dream, then make it happen.
